Ben's Meat & Heat Emporium turns 1!
On Saturday the 26th of June I celebrated the 1st birthday of Ben’s Meat & Heat Emporium. Customers enjoyed boerewors rolls cooked on the braai by the awesome blogger, Braai Lad and our fantastic braai wood supplier, Let’s braai. The braai was my way of saying thank you to all the fabulous customers who have supported me over the last year. It was so good to see so many of my regular Emporium customers on the day as well as some new faces. It was also fantastic to see many of my South African customers meeting fellow ex-pats...
My Butcher - Joseph Morris Butchers
This week is National Butchers week, so I thought I’d share a bit of information about the fabulous butcher I use for my biltong and droewors. Joseph Morris Butchers are situated in Rugby and have been my butcher for a number of years. They never let me down with their meat quality and are a pleasure to deal with. Joseph Morris Butchers are a family run business established in 1930 by Joseph Morris who set up a small shop in the village of South Kilworth in Leicestershire. As demand for quality meat grew, the business expanded and it is now...
My new shop, Ben's Meat & Heat Emporium, opens this weekend!
The Meat Room
This month I want to give a big shout out to The Meat Room, who are fantastic butchers located in both Warwick & Leamington. The Meat Room are big supporters of mine and stock many of my biltong and droewors products. Jamie, who owns The Meat Room, comes from a long line of butchers. His Grandad owned a reputable Pork Shop in Warwick for 30 years, which his Dad had for a further 5 years. Jamie worked in the shop from the age of 11, as a Saturday boy, and then went to full time at age 14. After 15...
My favourite activity at Ben's
There are three parts to the Ben’s Biltong business. There’s the wholesale element which involves the supply of biltong and droewors to butchers, farm shops, deli’s and pubs. There’s the internet side of the business, where people can buy my products online and have them delivered throughout the UK. And lastly, there’s my favourite part of the business, my market stall, which gives me a chance to meet customers and share my love of South African snack food! Now that Spring is here, I am really excited to be back at markets and festivals showcasing my range of biltong and...
