This chutney was inspired by our holiday to the south Indian state of Kerala. We ate lots of plantains & coconuts which are staples of the local diet. We went up into the hills and stayed on a tea plantation where they also grew cardamoms and pepper vines. It's a great reminder of a fabulous holiday.
This chutney is an assault on the senses from the moment the jar is opened. Flavoured with lots of roasted cardamom with a little heat from black peppercorns, it's an ideal accompaniment to cold meats, especially some nice home cooked ham. Also great as a pickle with your poppadoms.
Ingredients: Plantains (39%), Cider Vinegar, Sugar (16%), Coconut (12%), Onions, Ginger, Garlic, Green Chilli, Spices.
